Lose Weight With Colon Cleanses
6 Jul
If you’ve been trying to lose weight for a while it’s possible that you’ve been tempted to try colon cleanses to achieve weight loss. Ever increasing in popularity, they may sound like a great idea but are they effective?
What Are Colon Cleanses?
Colon cleanses are treatments that are designed to clean the toxins out of your body. They are either taken orally, as pills/liquids or they are processes which involve enemas, with all sorts of liquids being pumped into the body to remove waste.
How Are They Supposed To Work?
The theory behind colon cleanses is that the food you eat enters your body and is partially digested, before it starts to rot. The rotting of the food is then believed to cause toxins to be released into the body, which can be cleaned away by a colon cleanse. The process is based on the beliefs of ancient Egyptians and Greeks, who believed that people were poisoned by the remains of food in the digestive system.
Do Colon Cleanses Actually Work?
There is absolutely no scientific evidence that colon cleanses work. In fact, much of the theory behind the systems was discredited as long as 100 years ago. I was pretty shocked to find this out, as it seems like the kind of thing that would work. Truth is, your colon is perfectly capable of cleaning itself out.
A lot of the pills and potions use lots of fiber, to give the impression that they are moving a lot of materials through your system- though this is an effect of consuming large quantities of fiber.
What Can I Do Instead?
I used to think that this type of thing would work, particularly as this kind of method has become more and more popular. It took a lot of research to find out that this wasn’t something that would provide any benefit to me. Turns out it’s pretty easy to take the wrong path when it comes to weight loss.
When it comes down to it, you have to realize that there are no magical quick fixes for weight loss. No potions or fad diets will do it, but there are reliable solutions that you can turn to.
Successful weight loss requires a balanced, lifestyle based approach, not just a single step. You need to combine a healthy diet with suitable exercise, as well as the right kind of rest. It wasn’t until I realized this that I started to get the results I’d craved for so long, in spite of trying so many different techniques and diets over the years.
The good news is that getting it right means an end to fad diets, because a lifestyle approach means you’ll have a much better time when it comes to keeping the weight off, as well as other potential health benefits.
I’ve never felt better, because my active lifestyle removes the stress of keeping up with diet fads. You can really feel the increased quality of life that comes from a more complete approach to fitness and weight control.
